In search of someplace to belong…
Levi Hawkins was a typical fun loving, hard partying college student with his whole life in front of him — until one tragic night ripped his world apart and left him adrift with no home or family to return to. After a soul crushing stint in Afghanistan, he spent a decade wandering the globe searching for something or someone to make him whole again. Weary of regret and consumed by loneliness, he puts his heart on the line and turns to the only people still connected to him by blood.
He found an obsession…
A chance encounter at a lakeside café puts single mother Tori Ford directly in Levi’s path and he’s ready to stake a claim. She wants to keep her life simple. Work hard, raise her daughter, save some money and one day open the pie shop she’s always dreamed of. She doesn’t need complicated and she certainly doesn’t need a wickedly hot Dominant to take control of her future. Except when he touches her she yearns for the pleasure and passion of submission. But Tori can’t take another heartbreak and she can never trust Levi with her heart or her daughter if he won’t open up about the darkness slowly consuming him.

Not a stand-alone
By KJ
I haven't read the first book in this series, and I think it really would have helped. These men have some big secrets in their lives, and I spent 3/4 of the book so confused by those secrets. The author keeps hinting at them, but you don't find anything out until the end. It was not great pacing. However, the character of Levi is HOT and the relationship with Tori is exciting. This story seemed to just have too much back story going on, which only served to confuse things. While the story revolves around a BDSM club, there is only light BDSM at play in this book.

If you like your heroes tortured and little twisted...
By Cynthia A. Frazer
This is a good read but do not start here. This series is all about the past impacting the present and has a very strong series story arc which was introduced in book 1, Tucker’s Fall. And no, it’s not resolved in this one, either – but we do get more details and hints in this one. All we really know for sure is something BAD happened in the past which shattered the lives of the participants. The series arc is not resolved but Levi and Tori’s story? Oh yeah, nice ending.
If you like your heroes tortured and little twisted, Levi is the guy for you. But although the whole BDSM thing is an integral part of the story [and definitely steams up the sex scenes], it’s not what the story is about. I like that. It tells the story of two people who are kinked but not solely about kink. Hannah is a five-year-old who’s willing to share her crayons. Tori is first and foremost a single mom who loves her daughter and bakes the world’s best pies. Levi is a guy who spent the last years of his life running from his past and is now trying to find a future. They all just want to belong. And they do – to each other, of course, although [inevitably] it takes awhile for that to work out.
It’s a good read and I look forward to the sequels [when hopefully the big secrets will be revealed.]

Alpha, beta and omega readers and editors
By Elinaz
I am not a native English speaker but what drives me crazy when reading books are grammar, spelling, naming errors. And this book does have a few that just make me angry about the thoughtlessness of writing and editing. Example: towards the end Seth's name, a dead character, is mixed with Levi's, who is quite alive and kicking. In this instance Seth does have no correlation whatsoever to the current story line. That is quite a stopper when reading as I wondered if I had missed something and started to go backwards disconnecting from the flow.
Furthermore, connectors such as "when" are missing and one of my triggers is when instead of "him and her" I find "him and she" (see: http://languageandgrammar.com/2008/11/09/is-it-him-and-i-or-him-and-me/). And, I am not totally sure why I find a first person comment "I think" within a third person text?
So overall, while the story unfolds better than the first book the attempt to create mystery and suspense leaves definitely too much to cliff-hanging techniques. That makes me still upset about the issue of cost versus quality of the product I have purchased. There are open, unfinished story loops, such as Tucker coming clean with Meggie: a lot of preparation towards that moment with a hot scene, but a) the moment never happens, i.e. is never told and b) later Tucker needs to make up with Maggie and there is no explanation about what they need to make up for. At the end all of sudden they stand on a stage and (not spoiling it) doing it quite out of the blue. What comes across is a feeling of being rushed through the story which seems to submit to a limited word count. If that is the case I suggest better planning and story boarding.
It makes reading much more pleasant if there are no basic mistakes in a book. I like the idea of the story and the various complications and stories coming forward and would certainly enjoy them even more without these issues.
