Germs Coloring Book

If you have a child curious about the world of microbes, this is a perfect addition to feed their curiosity. I purchased this as an add on gift for my neighbors 3 year old son who requested germs for Christmas. When I found this, there was no question about it, he was going to have it.

This book has several pages full of photos for children to color & also offers a small caption briefly describing the microbe(s) on the page & tells a little bit about them. It seems to have traditional coloring book pages as well. Shipping was fast, which is always appreciated.

I'd recommend this book to anyone looking to educate or simply feed into a child's world of wonder.

In this celebration of the architectural form, Maddex (American Bungalow Style) visits 75 bungalows throughout the country, including L.A., Seattle, Chicago and D.C. Hers is a warmly told history, which guides the reader from neighborhood to neighborhood and introduces them to the bungalow's many architectural styles-from Federal to Arts & Craft to Spanish. She explains that bungalows were originally "designed for California's outdoor lifestyle," but eventually, "Sears, Montgomery Ward, Aladdin, Gordon Van-Tine, Lewis Homes and others all made bungalows a mainstay among their ready-to-assemble houses." In subsequent chapters, she explores the better-known bungalow architects, such as California's Ellsworth Storey and Seattle's Willatsen and Byrne. Bungalow Nation is a truly sumptuous and detailed look at American bungalows.With color pictures on every page, this book is a wonderful balance of text and graphics. The author's text and the photographs by Alexander Vertikoff together present a well-rounded introduction to bungalow style through brief looks at over 75 specific examples of bungalow architecture.

Each house has a description and history of the house and some information on the current owners. This is followed by some photographs of specific features with captions describing each.

The book ends with a bibliography and lists of organizations and architects in each of the five areas highlighted.

This is a lovely book. The bugalows are beautifully photographed. The endpapers are sheet music for the song "In The Land Of the Bungalow" by George F. Devereaux. The cover has a color print of a crewel embroidery of dragonflies. It is a labor of love that is a delight to read and a treat to the eyes. If you love bungalows, this is the book for you.

I got this book because I am planning to remodel the kitchen and bath of my 1930 bungalow and was looking for ways to do so while retaining the original integrity of the house. This book has given me the ideas I need to move forward with confidence.

Love affair with the bungalow

I live in a California Craftsman bungalow and therefore gravitated immediately to this book when I saw it in Builders Booksource in Berkeley, CA. It's absolutely lovely: the story of 75 bungalows in LA, Seattle, Chicago, DC, and Minneapolis. I was surprised that Berkeley wasn't included, but the homes shows epitomize America's love affair with these cozy, well-built structures. Included are features on porches, fireplaces, numerous built-ins, furnishings, landscaping, and interior/exterior decoration. You'll love this book, as I do.

Homes to Emulate

When I bought a 1920's bungalow a year ago, I checked out every arts and crafts and bungalow book I could get my hands on. This one rose to the top. Perhaps I'm a little biased because a good portion of the homes featured in the book are located in the Twin Cities, where I live. But the thing I really like about Bungalow Nation, besides the lovely quality of the photograhps, is that it provides excellent inspiration for the interior decoration of arts and crafts style homes.

If you have a bungalow, or just love the style, you will adore this book.

A surprsingly (?) good book!

When I received this book, at first glance, I was disappointed--the exercises seemed so...simple. But I gave it a try, and found that, a lot of those exercise were hard for me to play. So, with a little faith, I dived in deeper, and went through the whole book over the course of around a week. I have, so far, found it to be a very enlightening and practical guide, to help me find areas I am weak in, and to help me improve. It's not about "music"--it's just about technique. E.g., can you play a note on the g-string with your left middle-finger, plucking with your right index-finger, and then play a note on the d-string with your ring-finger and pluck with the left finger. Sounds easy, but, for me at least, it's not always the case.

I think this is a "two-hand" exercise book. The author doesn't go into hardly any detail about technique--he just lays out the exercises. I recommend doing all the exercises starting with the left then right plucking finger.

As a bass player for 35 years, my fingers have definitely become arthritic to some degree. The exercises help with that- especially if you play an extended range bass or upright where the stretches are particularly long.

This book is killer! The biggest hurdle to get over when first learning to play the bass or any stringed instrument is building the hand strength and muscle memory for the chord changes and scales. This book is the best way to build these muscles. It's a great book. Perfect for any player on any level. You really can feel and see immediate results. You won't be disappointed!

5 big "I desire Corbin even more now!" stars!!!

Why oh why have I even thought Cleo Peitsche would make it a little easier for Corbin and Audrey? There's still one book left in this series, so nothing goes easy. The opposite happens.
And yet we still have no idea what Henry will be doing? Will he really lay low and let it be? Never trusted him and I don't think we have heard the rest of him.

Corbin still has to deal with the revelation that his first wife, Audrey, might not be dead. If that wouldn't be enough, more secrets and speculations occur and keep him busy and away.
But even in these moments, Audrey is his first priority and he knows exactly what she needs and how to help.

For Audrey, all the problems and new revelations keep her on the edge and anxious. So much so, that Corbin's interference and his help have her in another panic attack. Her investigations are still running and working again with her brother make her nostalgic.

I so can't wait to read the final book and see if Corbin and Audrey finally get their happily ever after. And what they have to deal with to get their.

Desired By A Dangerous Man has its funny moments, its teasing and flirting, the hotness and please-more moments, but is also full of suspense and secrets. Cleo Peitsche really has grown as an author.

Felt like a filler book

Let me start off by saying I love the series. My issue is with this book , to me there is almost no development in the story , it felt overall like a filler book to me, not any action to speak of for the protagonist being a bounty hunter/PI. Spoiler alert......
There is nothing new with the situation with his wife only further speculation as to whether now she is a double agent and some mysterious meeting he had in DC that may or may not have to do with her, we don't find out.
The series overall could have done without this book or just could have incorporated the two or three new developments in the next book and just make it a little longer.
I still have high hopes for the next book, we will see

A Major Aid in Transformation

Once again, Damon Brand has given us an incredibly practical, useful book on magickal workings with angels. The process is to decide how we might wish to change our personal expressions of ourselves, in order to more easily and clearly create what we wish. Then, by using a combination of magickal working, and personal effort, we allow the change we wish to fully take place. Some examples of the types of personal changes offered are becoming more relaxed and "yourself" in social situations, accessing visions of insight into situations we wish to understand better, and the ability to find peace and happiness through acceptance of a situation. Every transformation listed is very practical. Although they may seem like small steps toward achieving a desired goal, they are crucial ones. The ability to change ourselves is the key to connecting to the energy of a new creation. This workings offered in The Angels of Alchemy are well worth our full attention and effort.

Evocation

So far I haven't seen any reviews mentioning the evocation section of this book. I haven't read any reviews mentioning if anyone has tried it or had any success. Tonight I evoked Karviel. Yes it was a success. No it wasn't like I had expected. But regardless I was left feeling utterly elated! It was a profound experience to say the least. The book mentions that no two evocations are alike. Different people will experience different things, etc. I will share my experience (of evocation, not the purpose which is personal,) while emphasizing that your experience will probably not be like mine... or it might. Who knows? I had to resist the temptation to dress up the ritual. I am a ceremonialist, so my first inclination is to do a temple opening with all the bells and whistles. I backtracked and decided instead to follow Damon Brand's advice and do the ritual exactly as described in the book to start. I may or may not experiment later on down the line, but I LOVE the direct approach in this book. Well, the Angel came... and without any strain, or much personal energy at all. The room was filled with a gentle pressure, like an energy current. The Angel appeared as a condensation of this pulsating, shimmering energy. He "spoke" to me through images and words. I spoke out loud, and he responded with telepathy. Direct answers and full blown conversation. Without warning he was gone though. He gave me my answers and left. No need to banish, or give a final release. This magic is so clean, it won't even leave lingering residue. One of the reasons you banish after a "Lodge style rite" is because that type of magic makes you a glowing beacon to pretty much anyone in the astral. This magic seems so direct, streamlined and precise, there's no need to banish before or after, nor does one have to open a vortex, nor question the identity of the being you called. I'd be very interested in reading other's experiences with the evocation method.

This book is about a signature designer in American architecture. If you are tired of the boxes and want to see what are the options get this book. His style is a mixture of Japanese traditional and modern. It is not austere Miesian but an up date of FLW Usonian.

This "guide" reads like a story where the author is the moderator sitting ...

This "guide" reads like a story where the author is the moderator sitting with panel of female experts, asking questions and drawing conclusions; there's a beginning, middle and end that shares step-by-step freelance-industry insights. Dotted with interviews that are filled with anecdotes supporting the theory-orientated introductions to each chapter, this book offers an comprehensive understanding of what it's like to start a business, and although it's told from a woman's perspective, it applies to al genders.

It's a super enjoyable read with an empathetic approach to starting a business and being a business in the 21st century, drawn from the experience of many successful women in an array of industries from different countries. And way before you get to the end of the book you really get that empowered feeling that, yes, this year will be different.

Thank you Monika for putting your passion for community, knowledge transfer and your curiosity on how to start a business into a well researched and coherent book. It's a must-read for anybody and everybody, whether you freelance, want to freelance, or want to understand your (possibly growing number of) friends who freelance.

Highly recommend for anyone (and not just writers

As a young aspiring freelance writer this book was exactly what I needed. Not only is it informative in terms of the nuts and bolts of freelancing, the profiles of the women were entertaining and really interesting. "Going freelance" is something everyone talks about as wanting to do but in reality it is utterly daunting and can pose huge challenges that rarely get talked about (how to keep track of invoices, how to "brand" yourself, what social media presence you should/shouldn't have etc). "This Year Will Be Different" addresses these topics -- and many more -- through the eyes of women who have already tackled them. Highly recommend for anyone (and not just writers!) wanting to explore the freedom of freelancing but don't know where to start.

About the Author
A. W. Tozer (1897-1963) was an American Christian pastor, preacher, author, magazine editor, Bible conference speaker, and spiritual mentor. For his work, he received two honorary doctorate degrees. Among the more than 40 books that he authored, at least two are regarded as Christian classics: The Pursuit of God and The Knowledge of the Holy. His books impress on the reader the possibility and necessity for a deeper relationship with God. Living a simple and non-materialistic lifestyle, he and his wife, Ada Cecelia Pfautz, never owned a car, preferring bus and train travel. Even after becoming a well-known Christian author, Tozer signed away much of his royalties to those who were in need. Tozer had seven children, six boys and one girl. He was buried in Ellet Cemetery, Akron, Ohio, with a simple epitaph marking his grave: "A. W. Tozer - A Man of God." Prayer was of vital personal importance for Tozer. His preaching as well as his writings were but extensions of his prayer life. He had the ability to make his listeners face themselves in the light of what God was saying to them.

Prepare to have your faith challenged and life shaken!

This book is probably the most spirit filled and guided work I've read in a long time. You can not help but hear the voice of God calling you to a deeper relationship with Him as you read this amazing classic. From begining to end each page is an impassioned plea for the reader to abandon "comfortable Christianity" in order to truly know God as He desires to be known. You can see right away that truly Mr. Tozer wrote this book on his knees. I found myself challenged to look at my own faith in Christ and what I should be doing with that faith in every chapter. Sometimes with weeping and confessing and always compelled to deep times of prayer and renewel in God's presence. The chapter entitled "The Blessedness of Possesing Nothing" should be required reading for anyone confessing Christ as their Lord. I was totally blown away and my life with Christ and my own pursuit of God has been forever enriched. I have read this book over and over and shared much of it with friends and family. If you are "stuck" in you walk with the Lord, let the Spirit of God use this book to shake you loose and move you onward and upward.

A Book Saturated with God's Presence!

This is one of a few books I've read that, upon reading it, actually manifested God's presence. In line with the teaching of the book, God impressed upon me his love and his desire for a more intimate relationship. I broke into tears. Few books have had that impact. The chapter entitled "The Blessedness of Possessing Nothing" is a profound call to absolute simplicity and abandonment to God who owns everything you may think you "possess", including yourself! Surrender it all to God and see what miracles will be wrought for His glory. Let God possess you! For those who want other recommendations, try "The Christian's Secret to a Happy Life" by Hannah Whitall Smith, "A Testament of Devotion" by Thomas Kelly, "Abandonment to Divine Providence" by Jean-Pierre de Caussade, "The Practice of the Presence of God" by Brother Lawrence and, for those who want to experience God's holiness in a powerful way, "The Holiness of God" by R.C. The Pursuit of God - made easier to know and practice.

Didn't realize that when they called this book a classic they really meant it. Many ideas and also clear direction to a more full walk with God (which, I think, is what we all really want). For the believer, God's "distance" is never the issue. It is only that we are to tune in to Him and the reassurance of His already immediate presence is known and felt by us. The idea of God's Throne in one's life (and there is room only for One on the throne at any time) is simplified. Yes, we want to walk with God. But remember it is He who reaches out to us before we can know Him in the first place. No wonder this book is so highly regarded.
