Business analysis (BA) is the practice of enabling change in an organizational context, by defining needs and recommending solutions that deliver value to stakeholders. BA involves: helping different parts of an organization understand each other; deciding on the right project for a company; defining what is to be delivered; and managing the project.
Business Analysis & Leadership goes beyond standard textbooks full of techniques, by demonstrating how to lead and gain credibility throughout the organization. It offers advice on the very tricky role of working with people from the shop floor to board directors and provides the confidence to challenge the easy way forward and point out what will really work in practice.
This book consists of contributions from leaders in the international business analysis field who focus on their specialist topics, while blending in the common themes and threads running throughout the book. With case studies and practical advice Business Analysis and Leadership shows business analysts how to become outstanding catalysts for change.

Real world information
By DanM
I needed this book for an online class. Of all the classes I've taken, this book has more real world information than any other business textbook I have read. This is especially the case if you are a business analyst (BA) or do similar work.

It's not rocket science but its sooooo right
By Claire O'Rourke
It was going to be a looooong flight to London from New Zealand, so I reserved a reading treat: "Business Analysis and Leadership: Influencing change" edited by Penny Pullan and James Archer.
If you don't know these two, then what about Susan or James Robertson, Emma Langman, Adrian Reid, Joseph da Silva, and others? Kick off some self leadership and go discover the great insights shared by experienced practitioners of the business analysis art.
And don't ya just love it when you're right - this book did turn out to be an excellent read.
The book's first section (and continuing throughout) forces reflection. If you're reading it you have no choice but to reflect. If that doesn't happen to you I'd question your reading focus. It certainly challenged me to challenge myself on my approach to things, yet gave encouragement for the challenge as the advice is practical and you know it's a journey the authors have personally travelled and therefore, is possible.
War stories are in there but they don't over power, and humour comes through as well. Also the sharing of some great quotes e.g. "metamorphosis may beget a cockroach"... for context, you'll need to read the book.
The book is split into parts with Leadership of Self setting the groundwork for Leadership within a Project, Leadership within an Organisation, and Leadership in the Wider World.
Then there are real opinion pieces in each of these sections where I felt inclined to have a one sided "discussion" with the author, and know I could have a two way discussion if I wanted as this book is well supported by websites including [...] LinkedIn groups, plus many of the authors put their contact details in the book too. These people really do want to share knowledge.
The reading was easy, not rocket science, and every article pointed me to alternate sources and readings to explore. While it talked about the leadership journey, it also arms you to continue the journey. My planned flight reading has given me a whole lot of references to check out and actions to take.
I highly recommend this book to any BA, anywhere on their BA journey. Indeed to anyone, as leadership applies to everyone. In fact, I'm off to pick up a couple more copies for some BAs I know.
